City defender visits EFL Girls Cup
Over eighty schoolchildren were paid a visit from Norwich City defender Christoph Zimmermann at Carrow Park yesterday.
The centre back joined pupils from ten local secondary schools for the first round of the English Football League’s (EFL) Girls Cup, hosted by the Community Sports Foundation (CSF).
Zimmermann received a warm welcome from the girls and teachers before he watched the matches, signed autographs and posed for photographs.
CSF Schools Development Manager Asa Saunders commented:
“The competition aims to inspire children to be active, healthy, and develop a strong sense of teamwork so thank you to Christoph for coming along and encouraging the girls – he certainly brought a lot of smiles and excitement to Carrow Park today!”
Winners Sprowston High School will represent Norwich City FC in the southern regional finals to be held in Luton in January.
Success there – and at the subsequent ’national’ round – will see Sprowston take part in the grand final, which will take place prior to the EFL Trophy Final at Wembley Stadium
Entries are now open for the EFL Schools Cup and the Community Sports Foundation would like to invite your school to participate. Find out more.
