City centre-back earns recognition after CSF nomination

We are delighted to announce that Christoph Zimmermann has been nominated as the Club’s PFA Community Champion for the 2017/18 season.

As well as impressing on the pitch in his debut season, the defender has continued to be involved with the community and the club’s official charity, the Community Sports Foundation, at every opportunity.

Weeks after his arrival, Christoph stayed late after a home win over QPR, to sign autographs for the fans still inside Carrow Road.

“I heard somewhere that people didn’t expect me to spend that much time with the crowd after the game, but I enjoyed it,” he said. “It was my way of showing appreciation for everyone’s support. Daniel Farke joked that he was happy I’d found the time to leave the crowd to be in time for training the next morning!”

Zimmermann regularly visits various Foundation programmes and events.

He has stopped by one of the Foundation’s ‘Mini Kickers’ sessions and attended both the English Football League’s (EFL) Girls’ Cup and Schools Cup tournaments, engaging brilliantly with the children, parents and staff on all three visits.

Before Christmas, he helped spread some festive cheer to a group of disabled young children and their families when they were treated to a surprise afternoon at Norwich City FC’s training ground.

The centre-back has actively sought to be involved further with the Foundation’s disability programmes, and has willingly given up his time to visit several sessions at Carrow Park.

The groups appreciated the input from the professional player and commented on how valuable they found the time with him.

CSF Chief Executive Ian Thornton said:

“Christoph has made an amazing contribution to our player visits this season and we’re really grateful for his dedication in supporting a range of our programmes.

“He has shown a real interest in the community projects so far, and is always keen to learn more about the Foundation and their community work.”

Speaking about the accolade, Christoph said:

“I feel honoured and happy to have won the award and it’s a pleasure to have been chosen by the Foundation and the Club; I’m very thankful.“

Well done, Zimbo!

"Christoph has made an amazing contribution to our player visits this season and we’re really grateful for his dedication in supporting a range of our programmes."
