Over £3,000 raised from second annual Foundation go-kart race
Twenty teams made up of eighty drivers converged upon Ellough Speedway in Beccles yesterday, for our second annual Go-Kart endurance race.
The teams took to the track for two hours of adrenaline-fuelled racing around the tight and twisty circuit.
Following a briefing, some warm-up laps, and a silent auction for the top grid-positions, the stage was set for the race. The aim was simple: complete as many laps as possible in the allotted time frame.
Among the teams on the start grid were a number of Foundation business supporters including Norfolk Hire, Desira Group, Arcadia Home Interiors, Ashtons Legal, Colour Print and Soak Digital.
The minimum five pit stop format placed an emphasis on teamwork, with drivers each taking turns to jump into the hotseat.
Taking the chequered flag this time out was last year’s runners-up Team Globex, who raced home with a total of 131 completed laps. Completing the podium were Eh, Ragazzo! (128 laps; 56.296) & last year’s winners The Wherry Boys (128 laps; 56.539).
Additional funds were raised from a post-race auction, with lots including Jamal Lewis signed boots.
CSF Community Fundraising Manager Joe Harvey said:
“It’s was hugely entertaining morning at Ellough Speedway. The race had many twists and turns, with some great driving in show – and, of course, the odd mishap!
“We’re very grateful to all those who supported the event, and we’ve raised a super amount for our #BuildTheNest campaign.”
