Over £2200 raised at annual quiz extravaganza On the Buzzer City

“What is the only song to have reached the UK number one spot by four different artists?” was the question posed to the hushed teams of quizzers in the critical music round by Norwich City’s Michael Turner.

Cue much animated conferring, deliberation and head-scratching from the thirty teams of six gathered in Carrow Road’s Top of the Terrace last Thursday.

It’s not every pub quiz that sees questions posed by Norwich City stars, but this was CSF’s On the Buzzer, City! Quiz, in aid of the Sporting Light Appeal – and the quizzers faced a whole range of video, audio, table and spoken puzzlers.

The quiz, now in its fourth year, was hosted by BBC Norfolk’s Rob Butler and ex-Canary Adrian Forbes.

The duo led the show, with questions covering a variety of subjects including sport, film, science, current affairs and history.

Former Radio 1 DJ Chris Moyles was a hardworking CSF office receptionist for the mystery guest video-round, whilst City’s Jamar Loza, Jacob Murphy, Kyle Lafferty, Gary O’Neil, Gary Hooper and Michael Turner all took turns to pose a question to the camera.

At the top end of the leaderboard was strong representation from Radio Norfolk and Archant, but it was Full Kenny Jackett – a Norwich City head office team – who eventually took home the coveted top spot.

The victors kindly donated their winner’s prize – a matchday box for ten for the upcoming Brighton game – back to auction out.

Aside from the quiz, a balloon raffle saw participants take a home a wide range of fantastic gifts including two annual Hollywood Cinema passes, a free car for a weekend courtesy of Holden Group, training courses donated by Fisher Healthcare, Sainsbury’s vouchers plus Norwich City memorabilia and more.

Over £2,200 was raised from the evening for CSF’s Sporting Light Appeal.

Emma Fletcher, CSF fundraising officer, said: “The evening was a great success. The atmosphere was fantastic and we raised a significant amount for the Appeal.

“Big thanks must go to our hugely entertaining hosts, the businesses who donated raffle prizes and, of course, all our guests who helped make it such a special evening.

“All the money raised will go towards helping disadvantaged and disabled children enjoy the benefits of sport.”
