Ormiston Victory Academy represent Canaries in Leicester
A group of Students from Ormiston Victory Academy represented Norwich City FC at this year’s Premier League Enterprise Challenge Play-Offs in Leicester yesterday.
Four pupils from the Norwich-based high school, Josh, Keiron, Kyle and Jamie, made the 250-mile round trip to the King Power Stadium after being selected to represent the Canaries at a local club heat held at Carrow Road before Christmas.
The Premier League (PL) Enterprise Challenge, run in partnership with Sport Relief, is the national competition element of the Premier League’s Enterprise programme which began in 2009.
The programme sees Year 9 and 10 students set a football business-related task by PL Executive Chairman Richard Scudamore, which this season asked groups to come up with initiatives to encourage diversity and make going to a match the most enjoyable experience.
CSF Enterprise Officer Mark Woodcock commented:
“The work they put in prior to the day was very evident. It was really exciting to see the students get so passionate about their ideas during their pitch.
“I was very impressed by the calibre of the competition on the day; every school involved can be pleased with their efforts, they did their club proud.”
31 Premier League and English Football League clubs entered this year’s Challenge and have competed across six Play-Off events being held at three Premier League stadiums – Liverpool FC’s Stadium, Anfield, the King Power Stadium, home of Leicester City FC and St. Mary’s Stadium, Southampton FC’s ground.
The Community Sports Foundation and Norwich City Football Club would like to commend Ormiston Victory for all their efforts – you did us proud!
