On the Stall City's Football Festival at The Nest
After the success of last year’s On the Stall City Disability Festival, the event, run by epic Foundation fundraisers On the Stall City, returned to The Nest for 2024.
On the Stall City, a volunteer-run Norwich City merchandise stall, have been raising money for the Community Sports Foundation since their shop opened in 2019.
Jacob Bowles, who is on the autistic spectrum, was involved with the Foundation’s community programmes as a child and wanted to give something back to the charity that supported him during his childhood. Together with parents Andy and Sharon, Jacob combined his love for Norwich City Football Club with his fundraising ambitions to set up On the Stall City, the now Forum-based shop in the city centre, selling used and unwanted Norwich City shirts and merchandise.
This year, On the Stall City were back at The Nest for the second annual rendition of their disability football festival, which saw participants from across all the Foundation’s disability programmes take part in a day of football fun in the glorious summer sunshine.
Participants from our pan-disability, Down-Syndrome, Realising Potential and Disability Development Centre football teams were all represented, taking part in an variety of friendly seven-a-side fixtures against players from other programmes.
The event had a real emphasis on being eco-friendly, with all participants encouraged to bring reusable water bottles and using the correct bins for any litter or recycling. On the Stall City also provided donation boxes, for anyone to drop off any unwanted or unneeded Canaries merchandise.
Fitting in with the sustainability theme, every player on the day received a strawberry plant to take home with them.
The Community Sports Foundation would like to thank On the Stall City for their continued support of the charity, the fantastic fundraising they do goes a long way in ensuring the Foundation continues to grow and thrive.
