Norwich City Wins EFL Community Club of the Season

Norwich City has been named as the EFL Community Club of the Season at the prestigious 2025 EFL Awards held in London on Sunday night.
The award recognises the extensive reach and impact of the club’s Community Sports Foundation, celebrating our extensive community engagement.
As well reaching over 45,000 unique participants and recruiting and training over 300 volunteers in 2024, the Foundation generated an exceptional £63 million in social value for the region.
The Foundation offers a huge range of programmes for people of all ages, including:
- Support programme ‘Duncan’s Club’ for people living with dementia and their carers
- Community running group ‘Run for Me’, aimed at supporting mental wellbeing
- Football sessions from 2 years up to structured youth skills-development
- ‘Play and Eat’ programme to assist those impacted by the cost-of-living crisis
- ‘Extra Time’ that engages men and women aged 55 plus in weekly physical and social sessions
- ‘Realising Potential’ encouraging those with physical and learning disabilities to get active and develop their personal skills
- Record-breaking 10k fundraising event, Run Norwich
- In addition, the Foundation’s innovative volunteering project ‘My Club’ engages fans in volunteering opportunities, inspiring them to get involved and supporting their progression through training and mentoring into employment.
Accepting the award on behalf of the club, the Foundation’s Chief Executive Officer, Ian Thornton OBE praised the tireless efforts of staff and volunteers who drive the Foundation’s community impact.
“We are enormously proud of the growth of the Community Sports Foundation since its formation over 30 years ago,” he said.
“Supporting and inspiring our community is one of the club’s core pillars and that is evident right through from board level to those delivering our projects on a daily basis.
“We thank everyone who has contributed along the way, be that as a member of the team, a volunteer or as a partner of the Foundation.”
