Millie Daviss nominated as Norwich City's PFA Community Champion

Norwich City Community Sports Foundation are delighted to announce our nominee for the PFA Community Player of the Season – Norwich City Women FC’s, Millie Daviss.

Millie has been with Norwich City for seven years, playing last season whilst studying a PhD in Social Science within the School of Education at the University of East Anglia.

Despite having the majority of her season cut short due to injury, Millie’s social and community involvement has been second to none this season, throwing herself into every opportunity.

Some of Millie’s engagements this season have included opening an orchard at The Nest, delivering inclusive books to a local primary school and presenting numerous awards and trophies at our schools football tournaments.

Millie said:

“I love getting involved with lots of different community activities and meeting so many inspiring people.

“I remember being a 10-year-old, fascinated by Norwich City players who would attend community activities; these players inspired me to become who I am today in terms of my football. I feel like I can be that role model now and reach many people, particularly young people, to help them find their motivation to achieve their dreams.

“I want to inspire the next generation of female footballers and being a Norwich City Women player has given me the opportunity to give young girls (and boys), a vision of what they can be.”

With The Nest also playing host to Norwich City Women’s home fixtures, the opportunities for match day engagement allowed Millie to remain part of Norwich City Women’s campaign, whilst simultaneously engaging with the young fans.

Millie continued:

“Opening the Orchard at The Nest with girls from the Kicks programme was one of my favourite community activities.

“This meant a lot to me because I was able to resonate with the girls; I was once a participant at my local Kicks sessions, and with Kicks being predominately male-orientated, it was so great to see that there are girls wanting to get involved and enjoying the sessions. They were excited to open the Orchard and they also got to watch a 4-3 Norwich City Women victory!”

Community Sports Foundation CEO, Ian Thornton OBE said:

“We are all extremely proud of Millie. She has had a tough year and has been tested through injury for large periods of the season. However, her off the pitch conduct within the Community has been outstanding.

“She is a real role model for Norwich City and the Foundation and fully deserving of this award and continues to inspire the next generation of footballers.”
