Malcolm Robertson visits Duncan's Club
Former ITV Anglia journalist Malcolm Robertson recently stopped by The Nest to visit Duncan’s Club.
Malcolm, who was invited by Duncan’s Club volunteer Ronnie, was well received and met with smiling faces from participants and family members alike as they recognised the locally renowned television reporter.
After observing Duncan’s Club for a short spell, Malcolm took to the stage himself to share his best stories and anecdotes from his illustrious career.
The day was then made even more special as Jo, Community & Wellbeing Project Manager, surprised the group with some recent donations.
Firstly Jo unveiled a new retro-style record player, kindly donated by one of Duncan’s Club’s most prominent and generous contributors, Gordon Anderson of Cavell Healthcare, who has also made a number of cash donations since the programme’s inception.
The second donation came from our own Extra Time group at the Foundation, who sought to find a way to alleviate the anxiety and restlessness, a common symptom of dementia, for some of the Duncan’s Club participants.
The Extra Time group subsequently donated two ‘fidget-blankets’ that participants could take turns to use as a way to alleviate any anxiety or fidgetiness during Duncan’s Club sessions. These blankets can be seen photographed below.
After the Duncan’s Club session had ended, Malcolm decided that he had so much fun that he wanted to stay slightly longer to observe a Team Talk session before a short tour of the facilities.
