Lap Lotus 2024 Recap
We are delighted to announce the successful delivery of the inaugural Lap Lotus, an inclusive and accessible SEND challenge event hosted in collaboration with Lotus Cars at their iconic sports cars headquarters in Hethel, Norfolk.
Participants of all ages and abilities came together on Sunday 28th July to walk, run, push and even scoot their way round the South Circuit of Lotus’ Hethel test track. A challenge for all, participants took to the track at their own pace and on their own terms. Finding and testing their personal limits was the aim of the day and an amazing £4,000 was raised for the Foundation in the process.
Of course, no day at Hethel would be complete without an impressive exhibition of Lotus Sports Cars on the track. With the demonstration of the multi-award winning Lotus Emira sports car and the world’s most powerful production car, the Lotus Evija electric hypercar concluded, participants were granted exclusive access to view the Lotus fleet up close.
In addition to the on-track activity, there was plenty to enjoy off-track. The Foundation’s disability dance group put on their usual high energy performance as well as lots of engaging and inclusive games and challenges to explore. With Lap Lotus being a hive of activity, the event village provided quiet break out areas as well Lotus’ Pit-Stop Cafe reviving participants when needed.
Lap Lotus marks an ongoing partnership between the Community Sports Foundation and Lotus Cars and their joint dedication to celebrating diverse abilities and fostering an inclusive community.
Matt Windle, Group VP and Managing Direction of Lotus Cars said: “Lotus Cars is committed to supporting its community in Norfolk and East Anglia. We have worked with the Community Sports Foundation for a number of years and are proud to be supporting its excellent work in increasing inclusivity and accessibility in the local community.”
Paul Hunter, Senior Events Manager at the Community Sports Foundation said: “The Foundation are delighted to work in collaboration with Lotus Cars to bring the first instalment of Lap Lotus to life. Today has seen families, friends and the wider community come together to celebrate their abilities, challenging themselves to travelling around the iconic South Circuit all in the aim to raise awareness and funds, enabling the Foundation to sustain and grow its vast SEND provision.”
We would like to express our thanks to all participants who gave the challenge their all, to our amazing volunteers, to Recover Physio for supporting everyone who embarked on the challenge and to Lotus Cars for their unwavering support and dedication to making this event a triumph.
