A new partnership between Norwich City FC Community Sports Foundation (CSF) and Great Yarmouth High School was launched on Tuesday – and two of the brightest Canary prospects were on hand to help mark the occasion.
Reece Hall-Johnson and Conor McGrandles, both fresh from Norwich City Under-21’s 7-2 victory over Southampton FC the previous night, helped staff and pupils celebrate as the school became the Foundation’s tenth ‘Community Hub’ site in Norfolk.
The new partnership will see students benefit from a number of the Foundation’s schemes including the National Citizen Service, which provides young people with the opportunity to take part in residential camps and volunteering projects in their local communities.
Other programmes available to the pupils include the Premier League funded Kicks and Premier League 4 Sport, which offers free weekly sports activities and educational workshops.
McGrandles and Hall-Johnson joined Head of P.E Paul Andrews, school governors and CSF Sports Development Officer Toby Nickerson for a presentation and Q&A, before taking part in a CSF-led sport session with the pupils.
Scottish-born McGrandles explained, that since moving to Norfolk, he was aware of CSF’s role in developing talent:
“There seems to some great opportunities here for students to get involved and it can only be a positive thing to get so many young people playing sport.”
Mr. Andrew, Head of P.E at Great Yarmouth High School, said:
“We’re really excited to be working with CSF. The new partnership will provide a vast amount of opportunities for our students and build on their future development.“
Great Yarmouth High School joins East Norfolk Sixth Form College, Lynn Grove High School and Ormiston Venture Academy as the fourth CSF Community Hub site in the local area.
