Cerebral Palsy Football Team target FA Disability Cup victory at St George's Park

Norwich City Community Sports Foundation’s Cerebral Palsy Football team return to St George’s Park for the second consecutive year on Sunday, 30th of June for the Cerebral Palsy Cup Final.

Following on from the successes of last year, Norwich City CP enjoyed an invincible season in their 2023/24 National CP League campaign, winning 12 and drawing two, to secure back-to-back league titles.

The Canaries will face Chelsea Foundation in this year’s final after last season’s eventual Cerebral Palsy Cup winners North East Yorkshire CP slipped to third place in the league this time out and finished runners-up to Chelsea Foundation in the National CP Cup.

Despite Norwich securing two victories over The Blues in their two league meetings this season, 2-1 and 7-1 respectively, it was Chelsea Foundation who emerged victorious in the National CP Cup this campaign, winning 3-4 on penalties following a thrilling 3-3 draw in the semi-final.

Darren Hunter’s side will look to go one-better this time around, aiming to complete the league and CP Cup double for the first time in the club’s history.

The FA Disability Cup in association with EE, returns for the eighth edition of the tournament, with six finals taking place over 29 and 30 June 2024 at St. George’s Park.

The finals, which are the largest competition of its kind, ensure players within impairment-specific football have a national FA competition to call their own with a total of six formats of the game competing: Amputee, Blind, Cerebral Palsy, Deaf, Partially Sighted and Powerchair.

St George’s Park will be open for fans to attend the finals and support the players from the stands.

TNT Sports will show every match live each day, presented by Lynsey Hipgrave alongside Paralympic medallist Ade Adepitan and seven-time Paralympic champion Hannah Cockcroft.

Across the weekend they will be joined by experts Scott Rogers (England Amputee head coach), David Clarke (Para GB/Blind football captain and chief executive of British Paralympic Association), Matt Crossen (England CP captain), John Tapia Owens (England head coach), Adam McEvoy (Wheelchair Football Association) and Gregg Baxter (Powerchair player).

Highlights will be available on Channel 4 and All4.
