Ex-soldier prepares to take on fundraising phenomenon
Ex-soldier Del Sullivan is preparing to walk 26 miles every day for 10 consecutive days to raise money for the Foundation and military charity On Course Foundation.
Del, who served with the British army in Afghanistan, was severely injured in 2005 and lost part of his spine when an improvised explosive device detonated nearby. His journey back to recovery has included having to learn to walk again and a challenging battle with his mental health. Despite all his difficult experiences, Del wants to go out of his way to give back to the charities that were there for him when he needed them most and is preparing to embark on a truly fantastic fundraising mission.
Del popped into The Nest recently to meet some of our participants ahead of his incredible feat:
“I wanted to give people from all walks of life not only a second or third chance in life but for some, a first chance.
“Like myself, who needed a few chances in life after firstly being medically discharged from the army in 2016 due to suffering a broken back and undergoing multiple surgeries. I also needed a third chance after suffering from mental health issues over the last few years”.
Del begins his 10 marathons around Norwich on 18th April and finishes at Carrow Road before Norwich City’s home game against Swansea City on Saturday, 27th April.
