Goalkeepers travel to Warwick for National Training Camp
Two members of the Foundation’s female football development pathway had a treat this week after being invited to an England National Talent Camp.
Megan Frary and Amber Rose Locker were at Warwick for three days at the start of half term, training with girls of a similar age from around the country.
Both players are members of the Foundation’s Academy Development Programme and the FA’s Advanced Coaching Centre, which is delivered by Foundation coaches.
U16 goalkeeper Megan, who lists Declan Rudd, Karen Bardsley, and former Norwich City Women’s ‘keeper Hope Armstrong among her favourite players, said that the coaches on the camp made her feel very welcome and that she loved the whole experience including the ‘keeper specific training she received.

Amber Rose, who is also a goalkeeper, enjoyed hearing about the experiences of fellow U14 players from different regions and learned a lot to help her develop in her position. She has been a member of the Foundation’s programmes since U12 and names Mary Earps as her favourite player.
Over 250 local girls are part of the Foundation’s Girls’ pathway, which can name current professionals Lauren Hemp, Flo Allen, and Aimee Palmer among its former players.
In addition, many past players from the programmes have progressed to play for Norwich City Women while several have gone on to work for the Foundation, such as current Football Development Officer Summer Ward.
It’s a big week for women’s football in Norfolk – Carrow Road welcomes the England Women’s National Team on Sunday, who take on Spain in the Arnold Clark Cup. Meanwhile, Norwich City FC announced the operational integration of Norwich City Women into the club.
