You'll never walk alone!
Monday the 23rd January will see the launch of the Community Sports Foundation’s (CSF) walking football sessions and there are still places available to get involved.
Walking football is aimed mainly at people over the age of 50 who want to continue to play football or to start playing again and is a great way to keep fit, learn skills, have fun and socialise all at the same time.
The rules of the sport are much the same as standard football, the key difference is that if a player runs then they concede a free kick to the other side.
Players will have the opportunity to train weekly and will also get the chance to represent Norwich City FC at fixtures throughout the year locally and nationally.
Tessa Beecroft, CSF Health Development Officer, said:
“Walking football has seen a surge in popularity across the country over the past few years and the health improvements are huge.
“With the success of our Extra Time group, we are keen to continue to increase both social and physical activity opportunities for the older generation in the city.”
So if you think your footballing days are over then think again! Come and give walking football a go and you’ll soon realise how much you’ve missed playing the beautiful game.
Sessions kick off on Monday January 23rd and will be held every Monday from 3:30pm to 4:30pm at a cost of £3.50 per person. The first session you attend is free and evening sessions will be introduced later on in the year.
