Club legend to support CSF's work in the community
Former Norwich City captain and Hall of Fame inductee Adam Drury has been appointed as an ambassador for the Community Sports Foundation.
The thirty-six year old, who recently announced his retirement from the game, was a guest-of-honour at Saturday’s Brighton game.
Drury spent time meeting participants from CSF’s Match Day Club, a programme for disabled youngsters.
Prior to kick-off, he was then officially introduced to the crowd in his new ambassadorial role as he placed the matchday ball on the plinth.
As an ambassador for the Foundation, Drury joins celebrities, media personalities and Norwich City FC icons to support CSF’s work in the local community.
“It’s an honour and privilege for me to be involved with the Norwich City Community Sports Foundation at a club where I spent so many years and have so many great footballing memories,” said Drury.
“CSF do such great work, which I got to see first-hand when I was a player and I look forward to supporting them now in their work as an ambassador.”
In over a decade at Carrow Road, Drury amassed 361 appearances for Norwich City.
A firm favourite with supporters and players alike, the left-back’s career at Norwich saw him captain the Canaries to the Division One title, lift the Barry Butler Memorial Trophy as Player of the Year and be inducted into the club’s Hall of Fame.
“Adam was an ambassador both on and off the field during his playing career, so it’s only natural he becomes an figurehead for the club now his playing days are over,” said CSF Director Ian Thornton.
“I’m delighted to welcome him as a CSF ambassador, a role in which he can continue to represent the club’s good work in the community.”
Drury joins ex-teammates Dean Ashton, Darren Eadie, Iwan Roberts, Paul McVeigh and Craig Fleming as part of CSF’s ambassadorial team.
