Canary stars stop by Taverham Junior School
Excitement was in the air at Taverham Junior School yesterday morning as pupils were paid a special visit from Canary stars Angus Gunn and Josh Murphy.
On arrival, the players dropped in on a Year 3 assembly and took part in a special Q&A session with the school’s new ‘School Sports Council’.
The City duo shared personal stories about their athletic and academic experiences and talked about the importance of working hard and overcoming barriers in order to be successful.
Josh and Angus then joined the children for a series of fun football drills and games at their weekly PE session, delivered by the Community Sports Foundation (CSF).
Paul Henman Deputy Head at Taverham Junior School said:
“It was really inspiring for our children to have a visit from Angus Gunn and Josh Murphy. They were enthusiastic and approachable, interacted brilliantly with the children and talked clearly about how sport in school can be the starting point to achieving great things as an adult.”
Each week, CSF delivers PE lessons to 65 schools in the region, with over 10,000 pupils aged 5-11 years-old participating in those sessions.
The Foundation also provides over 100 extra-curricular clubs a week to give pupils the opportunity of additional sporting activities after school finishes.
