Carrow Park to open as a community 'hot-spot'
Carrow Park, the Community Sports Foundation’s facility next to Carrow Road, will be opening its doors as a designated community ‘hot-spot’.
As part of efforts to combat the ongoing cost-of-living crisis, every Wednesday morning between 8.30am and 10.30am, members of the public will be able to use the space to stay warm, enjoy a free cup of tea or coffee, and connect with others.
Newspapers and Norwich City FC matchday programmes will be available to read, while a trained mental health first-aider will be on hand to provide one-to-one support, if required.
The initiative is possible thanks to funding from the Norfolk Community Foundation and their Surviving Winter Campaign, which aims to combat isolation and loneliness.
Toby Nickerson, the Foundation’s Community Development Manager said:
“With the cost of household bills rocketing and putting a strain on so many in our community, our Carrow Park ‘Hot-Spot’ will provide an alternate space for local residents and City fans to use should they wish.
“Whether it’s to meet a friend, take a break from the cold or to simply enjoy a complimentary cup of tea in a different environment, our hotspot is there as a welcoming and inclusive place to stay warm this winter.”
The new hot-spot comes off the back of the launch of the EFL ‘Together – Supporting Communities’ campaign, an initiative to support the communities and fans of the 72 league clubs.
Last month, the Club donated 850 matchday tickets to local food hubs, allowing families, who might otherwise be unable to afford to do so, the chance to cheer on the Canaries.
The Carrow Park Hot-Spot starts on Wednesday 11th January (8.30am to 10.30am) and will run until Wednesday 29th March. Directions to Carrow Park can be found here.
