Walk 150 miles during February and March while raising vital funds for the Community Sports Foundation and Big C. Whether you stroll, hike, or power walk, how you complete the challenge is entirely up to you. With a suggested fundraising target of £150, your efforts will make a real difference to your local community.

This fundraising challenge is open to everyone. However, if you are considering taking part as part as corporate team – hold fire! A corporate version of this event will take place in May 2025. More details will be announced in the New Year.

Whether you prefer walking, running, cycling or even swimming the focus is to achieve 150 miles throughout February and March, in your own way and in your own time.

Please see the ‘Event Support’ section to understand how the Community Sports Foundation and Big C will support you virtually throughout the two months. There will also be the option of participating in local meet-ups to ensure you stay on track and reach that 150-mile goal!

Once you’ve signed up, you’ll be fully supported every step of the way!

  • Virtual Support

Throughout February and March, you’ll receive regular updates and motivational content from both the Community Sports Foundation and Big C, designed to keep you engaged and inspired as you tackle the challenge.

You’ll also have access to online community groups, where you can track your progress, share stories, and connect with fellow participants. It’s a great way to celebrate milestones together and keep the momentum going!

  • Optional Meet-ups

We will also be organising regular meet-ups, giving you the chance to come together with others to walk and tick off some of those miles.

The first meet-up will take place on Sunday, 2nd February, starting at Carrow Road, the home of Norwich City FC. Join us for the chance to walk alongside some special guests and other participants. Full details will be shared in January.

We recognise your efforts and want to ensure you feel rewarded! At the end of the two months all participants will receive a free, downloadable certificate marking your achievement.

In addition, those who meet or exceed the suggest fundraising target will receive the following:

  • Raise £150 – an official Virtual 150-Mile Challenge medal
  • Raise £300 – an official Virtual 150-Mile Challenge technical t-shirt

The Virtual 150-Mile Challenge is more than just a fundraising challenge; it’s a call to action for the local community to come together in support of vital local services.

Funds raised will directly, and equally, benefit:

  • Norwich City Community Sports Foundation, who use the power of sport to support and inspire the community. The Foundation deliver a variety of programmes across the county with the objective of driving inclusion for people with disabilities, boosting mental health and wellbeing, and supporting disadvantaged people to raise their aspirations.
  • Big C Cancer Charity, who support anyone affected by cancer in Norfolk and surrounding counties, whether that is someone with a cancer diagnosis or their loved ones, from diagnosis and treatment through to life beyond cancer.

Frequently asked questions

How do I track my miles?

You can track your miles using fitness apps, wearable devices, or manually logging them in our online community groups. Details will be provided upon registration.

Can I sign up to the challenge during February and March?

Absolutely! The challenge is flexible. If you’ve only just learnt about the challenge and it’s technically begun, we would love you to still join and take part.

Do I need to complete the challenge in a specific location?

No! The challenge is virtual, with optional meet ups. That means you can complete your miles wherever you like – on local trails, around your neighbourhood, or even a treadmill.

Will I get any support during the challenge?

Yes! Once signed up you’ll receive regular updates with motivational communications from the Community Sports Foundation and Big C.

How do I join the online community groups?

Once signed up, you’ll receive details of our online community groups that are available to join. Designed to help support you during the challenge and connect you with other fundraisers to share stories and celebrate milestones.

Can I fundraise for just one of the charities?

Not this time. This is a joint fundraising event. Each charity will benefit equally from funds raised by the Virtual 150-Mile Challenge.

Can I participate as part of a team?

If you mean a corporate team – hold fire! A corporate version of this event will take place in May 2025. More details will be announced in the New Year.

If you mean a team made up of family and friends, then yes! However, please note that one medal is awarded for every £150 fundraising target met. If your team reaches a fundraising total of £300, two medals will be awarded, and so on.

If I don’t achieve the 150-miles, will I receive my registration fee back?

Unfortunately not. The registration fee covers our admin costs. If you don’t achieve the 150-miles, then not to worry. Feel proud of yourself for whatever you did manage to achieve!

Do I have to reach the £150 fundraising target?

This is just a suggested target. We are enormously grateful for any fundraising you achieve as part of this challenge and every participant will receive a free, downloadable participation certificate at the end of the challenge.
