The Community Sports Foundation are excited to collaborate with Lotus Cars to host Lap Lotus – an inclusive and accessible SEND challenge event at Lotus’ headquarters in Hethel, Norfolk.

Taking place on Sunday 28th July 2024, Lap Lotus will provide an opportunity for individuals of all abilities to come together and raise valuable funds for the Foundation.

Comprising of a variety of accessible activities and challenges, participants will endeavour to lap the South Circuit of Lotus’ iconic Hethel test track as many times as they can.  Walking, running or pushing, there is no set distance – this challenge is for all, to be taken at your own pace and on your own terms; individually or part of a team.

The day will also see an exhibition of Lotus vehicles racing on the track follow by access to view some Lotus’ vehicle fleet, displays from our disability dance group and an event village containing food and drink stalls.

Lap Lotus signifies a remarkable partnership between the Foundation and Lotus, dedicated to promoting inclusivity, accessibility and the celebration of diverse abilities. Lap Lotus is an inclusive event featuring a variety of activities and experiences designed to engage participants of all ages and abilities. Highlights of the event include:

  • Lap Lotus track event –  Bringing together family and friends, the main event on the track is a quest to conquer the South Circuit of Lotus’ iconic track. Open to all, challenge yourself to lap the track as many times as possible. Walking, running or pushing; we can’t wait to see everyone taking part. There will be two opportunities for participants to access the track; ‘wave one’ and ‘wave two’ (see timings below). Participants can take part in one or both waves and you will receive a medal for your efforts.
  • Adaptive sports demonstrations – There will be engaging demonstrations of adaptive sports, showcasing how individuals with SEND can participate and excel in various athletic activities.
  • Inclusive games and challenges – Fun and interactive games and challenges designed to promote teamwork, cooperation, and inclusivity.
  • Talent showcase – Individuals from the Foundation’s Allstars Disability Dance Troupe will be showcasing their talents for everyone to enjoy.
  • Sensory-friendly activities – There will be a designated sensory-friendly area offering activities tailored to accommodate the diverse sensory needs of participants. At 1pm all participants will be invited to come together on the track to take part in ‘Sensory Sixty’ – a 60m challenge to bring our event to a celebratory close.

In addition to the scheduled activities, participants will have the opportunity to enjoy food and refreshments provided by local vendors, ensuring participants and their families are fuelled for the days activities.

As a fully accessible event Lap Lotus has on-site parking, accessible toilets and quiet space.

All support and assistance animals are welcome.

Participant Entry Fee 

If you are planning to participate in Lap Lotus entrance is FREE. Free entrance is extended to any accompanying carers. We ask all those planning to participate to register their intention to do so here.

Spectator Entry Fee

If you wish to spectate at the event we ask for a £5 donation to the Foundation. Spectator tickets can be purchased when registering for the event. On purchasing a spectators ticket you will be entered into a draw to win a Norwich City FC 2024/2025 home shirt.

How do I sign up to take part in Lap Lotus?

Do I need to have a disability to take part?

No, this is a fully inclusive event and all are welcome.

What’s included with entry?

All participants will receive a medal for taking part and for those who fundraise £25 or more, a Foundation t-shirt.

Do all participants need to raise money for the Community Sports Foundation?

We encourage all those taking part in Lap Lotus to fundraise for the Community Sports Foundation but it is not mandatory. Should you wish to simply spectate and show your support to someone taking part, you can purchase a spectator ticket with a suggested donation of £5. Proceeds from all ticket sales will go to the Foundation and you will be entered into a draw to win a Norwich City FC 2024/2025 home shirt.

Is parking provided?

Yes, parking is available onsite, you will be sign posted to this on arrival.

Are mobility aids allowed on the track?

Yes, all mobility aids are allowed on the track.

Can I bring my support / assistance animal with me?

Yes, all support / assistance animals are welcome at Lap Lotus.

What age do I have to be to enter?

Lap Lotus is fully inclusive. From 1 to 101, all are welcome to take part. We simply ask that all children are accompanied by a responsible adult.

What if I need support to take part in Lap Lotus?

You can sign up to participate in Lap Lotus as part of a team via the booking link. If you require more than 4 people in your team to participate please let us know: [email protected].

Are there cut off times?

None! Start when you’re ready and we look forward to celebrating your achievements.

What accessible features are there on site?

Lap Lotus will have onsite parking, accessible toilets, medical support, and quiet spaces.

What if a participant doesn’t feel comfortable in a crowd?

Whilst we hope Lap Lotus will be well attended we are aware some participants may become anxious in crowds. We will therefore ensure there is a dedicated quiet area for those needing some time away.

Can I fundraise for another charity?

Not this time round, but we are looking into this for future events.

Can I bring my own food?

Yes.  There will also be food vendors onsite where you will be able to purchase food and drink.
