AVIVA Footy Finance
Be the Board and make the best choices for the Club
AVIVA Footy Finance is a full day of cross-curricular football and finance activity based at Norwich City FC study Centre and our Carrow Park facility.
A typical class of 15 children (years seven, eight and nine) will be split into four groups who will assume the role of the board of a football club. The pupils are allocated a budget of £40m to spend on the running of the club. Acting as key members of the board, they will make choices on what strategy, expenditure and revenue generation decisions to take for the virtual season.
Once the classroom session is finished and the children have presented their strategies to the teachers and coaches, they head off to the 3G pitches of Carrow Park to compete in a six match mini-tournament.
During the course of the tournaments, various scenarios will be sprung upon the teams. The scenarios consist of international call-ups, bans, suspensions and injuries. The team's resources will be stretched as they deal with the issues.
After the tournament, the pupils review their performance on and off the field. The initiative will demonstrate to the pupils the difficulties faced by those working in professional football. No day or week is ever the same; decisions taken will have an impact on the accounts, staff, team and the fans.
The course is fun, unique and helps children understand the value of money and the importance of making good financial decisions. The course encourages social interaction, presentation schemes, decision-making and healthy fun activity.
