Summer Cup - Preview

The Foundation will welcome a record 250 local youth teams to Easton

The Community Sports Foundation’s (CSF) annual Summer Cup is back this weekend and it promises to be an action-packed two days for all involved.

The tournament, which celebrates its 16th anniversary this year, will welcome a record 250 local youth teams at Easton and Otley College to battle it out to become this year’s champions.

There will be a high level of competition among the seven age groups who have entered, particularly from previous winners Gorleston Rangers who will be looking to retain their title, having won silverware at the tournament a total of 19 times.

Other previous winners include Old Catton JFC, Sprowston FC, North Walsham YFC and Aylsham FC.

On Saturday, various Norwich City FC disability teams will take on their counterparts from Watford, Kings Lynn and MK Dons in a special mini football tournament.

CSF’s Pan-Disability participants will also have the chance to enjoy small sided games as part of a Festival Day on Sunday.

CSF Football Development Officer, Dan Goffin, said:

“We look forward to welcoming players, coaches and supporters both old and new this weekend. Each year, the standard of players increases and we expect this year to be no different.

“I’d like to thank the local grassroots football community for supporting our event yet again, for what will be the biggest Summer Cup we’ve ever delivered.”

Gates open at 9am Saturday and fixtures kick off from 10am, a full Summer Cup programme will be available to buy for a small fee.

Hot and cold food, drinks and ice creams are available to purchase from vendors located in the Food Court.

Also on site is the CSF HQ area which will be home to the Speed Kick challenge and other inflatable activities for players and spectators. So be sure to stop by if you fancy a go on our speed kick machine!
