Goals galore for D/S squad
Success for the Down's Syndrome team in latest set of fixtures
The Community Sports Foundation’s (CSF) Down’s Syndrome team enjoyed a successful afternoon at the Football Development Centre in Bowthorpe last Saturday.
The squad took on teams from Inspire Suffolk in a round-robin tournament, which consisted of a series of fifteen minute six-a-side games.
Supporters were treated to an impressive total of over thirty goals across the matches, as well as some fine displays of sportsmanship and teamwork.
Ben Sykes, Thomas Shingfield and Andrew Daniels were standout players on the day for Norwich City, both showcasing some excellent skills (and celebrations!).
Disability Development Officer Darren Hunter said:
“The families and players were thrilled to be a part of the DS fixtures, the squad did so well. I am very happy with the performance the team showed.
“We’re looking forward to the return fixtures already!”
The Down’s Syndrome team train on Saturdays at Wensum Lodge Sports Centre. The sessions are part funded by the Premier League and aim to develop social skills, confidence and physical ability. These sessions are open to anyone with Down’s Syndrome, aged five and up.
