Duo selected for FA Talent Camp
Young players to attend Emerging Talent Programme
Two players from the Community Sport Foundation’s (CSF) Disability Player Development Centre (DPDC) have been selected to attend the 2016/17 Football Association’s (FA) Emerging Talent Programme this weekend at the Royal National College in Hereford.
Josh and Jack were both invited to attend the first squad meeting on December 10th and 11th after trialling regionally in Cambridge during October as part of the FA’s Talent Identification Programme.
Josh, a Cerebral Palsy player, has been attending CSF’s DPDC for the last year and has shown great potential. On selection, the youngster, who also plays for local side Bungay Town was “in disbelief but over the moon.”
Jack, who has a hearing impairment, plays football for Bradwell FC and represents his school team Cliff Park Ormiston Academy. He has been a member of CSF’s DPDC for three years and attends the Deaf and Visually Impaired Centre of Excellence in Bedfordshire every Saturday.
Jack’s proud Mum said:
“This will be Jack's third season with the Centre of Excellence. The trip to Bedford and back every week is tiring for him but he is very dedicated and says it is totally worth it! He is very much looking forward to competing in the fixtures over the weekend.”
The FA Emerging Talent Programme helps identify and develop talented young players across the country with a view to helping them progress onto the international stage.
The boys will both have the chance to participate in fixtures and training opportunities, meeting up regularly with the other members of the selected squad during the course of the season.
CSF Disability Development Officer Darren Hunter said:
“This is a great achievement for the boys and is a credit to the effort that they have both put in.
“The next step after the Emerging Talent Programme is the England Development Squads and we are hopeful that both the boys will push on in their chosen football pathway and compete at the highest level possible.”
The Community Sports Foundation would like to wish Josh and Jack the best of luck and hope that they enjoy the experience.
