Canary Skippers Launch CSF Hub

Open Academy becomes latest Community Hub

City stars Russell Martin and Sebastien Bassong joined staff from the Community Sports Foundation on Tuesday, to launch Open Academy in Norwich as a Community Hub.

The school becomes the fourth hub to be unveiled, following in the footsteps of Easton & Otley College, Northgate High School and Lynn Grove High School.

As a result of the partnership between the school and CSF, young people will have the opportunity to take part in programmes such as Premier League 4 Sport - an initiative that encourages participation in several Olympic sports including basketball, table tennis and boxing.

The two Canary defenders showed off their basketball and boxing skills in a PL4S session on Tuesday to the delight of the pupils in attendance.

Speaking at the event, CSF Operations Development Officer Gavin Coe said of the partnership:

“This is all about opportunities for young people and using the power of Norwich City Football Club and the Premier League to excite and engage.

“We are delighted to work with OPEN Academy and have had a great time at the launch today with Russ and Seb.”
